På en av de vanliga tekniksidorna jag läser dagligen fick jag se att hotellkedjan aloft skulle öppna sitt första hotell i US inte alltför långt ifrån oss. Att det ens omnämndes på 'Engadget HD' kan jag bara gissa var för att det finns HDTV i varje rum, men det borde det väl vara på de flesta hyfsade nyöppnade hotell idag. Då vi alltid är sugna på en liten tripp, och Rancho Cucamonga är ett helt ok utflyktsmål, blev det till att boka en natt.
Rancho Cucamonga ligger bara en dryg timme från oss så det känns lite halvfjösigt att bo på hotell, men vad gör man inte för lite utflykt. Vi har ju blivit bortskämda med att uppleva nya vyer konstant då det innan Neo ofta blev combos i nya städer varje vecka. Nu är dagsutflykter inte lika simpelt, men med en övernattning funkar det schysst. Den 23:e drog vi iväg och det blev väl egentligen mest besök på mall:s som vanligt, samt naturligtvis en tur till hotellbaren för mig när resten av familjen slocknat. Mall:en i området inkluderar ett stort outlet-mall vid namn Ontario Mills där vi varit innan, samt Victoria Gardens, ett för oss nytt utomhus-mall uppbyggt som en mindre stad.
Betyget nedan för Journey to the Center of the Earth inkluderar extra plus för att den var i 3D. Utan 3D-effekterna är det mest en äventyrsrulle för barn, men nu var den alltså en helt ok upplevelse även för oss äldre barn. Tropic Thunder var lite för mycket för Ann och bitvis nästan även lite för tillkrystad för mig, men vissa scener var helt kalas, som exempelvis Tom Cruise's moves under sluttexterna.
Redan augusti igen... Som tidigare år (2007, 2006, 2005, 2003) listar jag för egen koll därför de senaste 12 månadernas Netflix-aktivitet. Nedan följer returnerade Blu-ray och DVD-filmer i kronologisk ordning (213 st). Vad jag kan minnas har det inte varit några direkta överraskningar eller super-rullar som är värda att nämna. En rulle som vi just kollade, och som alltså ännu inte kommit tillbaks till Netflix, är What Happens in Vegas. Den var en surprise och jag bemödade mig t.o.m. att gå igenom extra-materialet på Blu-ray:en, någon jag så gott som aldrig gör i vanliga fall. Kolla t.ex. in "From the Law Firm of Stephen J. Hader". Vad jag kan komma på är det nog den bästa komedin jag sett sedan vi såg om Good Luck Chuck i början av året.
